Algonquin Park Tours-Northern Edge
My most memorable holiday was Algonquin Park Tours-Northern Edge Algonquin. It included gentle paddling during the day on calm blue water through forests of white pine, and laying back on sun-warmed rocks, watching the milky way emerge each evening. I learned how to track animals, brew pine needle tea, make rope out of bark, start a fire in the rain and read weather patterns.
Tips
Tips that I would give to others booking this holiday would be that the campsites are simply a natural clearing in the forest near the water, with some rocks for a campfire. Every site has a 'toilet,' (i.e.) a box over a hole a short walk from the tents. Most days were warm enough to swim but the weather can change fast so bring thermals and a wooly hat for nighttime.
I was worried that seven days would be too long, but in fact, ten would have been better. The trip encouraged total respect for the environment and showed me how to live in the wild with minimal impact.
I would rate my holiday simply wonderful. I came back feeling healthy in mind and body. Simply the best holiday I have ever been on.
