The South Shore of Lake Nipissing in Ontario's Near North offers some of the best Pickerel, Pike and Muskie fishing in the region. Hwy. 654, also known as Wasi Road, brings you into a region famous for fine fishing, comfortable resorts and excellent camping. Lake Nipissing has many sheltered bay areas and islands to fish around, or just enjoy being on the water on a sunny day. Many of the resorts have complete fishing packages to offer including maps and information as to where the fishing hotspots are.
This area of the lake also offers great opportunities for boating, windsurfing and sunbathing on fine beaches. Enjoy a day on beautiful Lake Nipissing in your own craft or rent a comfortable boat, book a charter or experience one of the popular sunset cruises on the Chief Commanda. Either way Lake Nipissing is a great lake for pleasure boating.
There are a number of small communities to visit along Nipissing's South Shore with wonderful accommodations which include everything from housekeeping cottages, campgrounds and resorts.
Spend a week or two in a fully-equipped housekeeping cottage at Rockview Camp in the picturesque South Bay. Enjoy the sandy beach; take the canoe, pedal boat or kayaks for a spin. Cool off with a swim on a hot summer's day or just lay back with a book and relax. Children will love the colourful playground and the beach. Avid anglers can indulge in catching Pickerel (Walleye), Northern Pike, Bass and Muskie. In spring and autumn the bay offers shelter, allowing you to fish many structures and weed beds. In summer you can reach the deeper, cooler waters where the fish hide out.
You may wish to stay at Bayview Camp or Glen Echo Cottages located in one of the most sheltered locations on the lake. Enjoy these private, quiet locations that are only a mere 15 minutes away from the City of North Bay where you can take in the theatre or shop in the malls. Glen Echo is a four season facility offering a unique ice fishing experience in their comfortable, fully equipped housekeeping bungalows. Bayview Camp, open spring, summer and fall, also offers RV and tenting sites available for the traveling Camper.
