This Beach has great swimming conditions with its sandy beaches and is a popular choice for sunbathers and wind surfers who want to stay relatively close to town. This beach also has many onsite amenities, making both convenient and comfortable. The park has 106 Campsites, 99 of which have electricity and running water, hot showers, picnic tables at every site, a pay phone and a convenience store all contributing to making Point Des Chenes a very comfortable location for a swimming or camping getaway. Point Des Chenes is located just south of the airport and accessed via Second Line and Airport Road and is operated by the Sault Ste. Marie Lions Club and is located just 20 minutes west of Sault Ste. Marie where the St Mary's River begins at Lake Superior.
Now that you have relaxed on Sault Ste. Marie’s southern beach, travel 20 mins north to another popular beach destination.
Harmony beach is a beautiful beach, with 3.2 Km of stunning beaches which makes this an excellent place to stop for a swim. The beach has a restaurant and bar with a variety store on location for your convenience. Harmony beach is pet friendly so bring the whole family; it provides many opportunities for hiking, swimming, boating and fishing.
On your way back into town stop at Sault Ste. Marie’s Trading Post; cool off with a delicious ice cream while you browes the shops for that unique northern Canadian item.
