Ride the Rails on the Passenger Train
The Algoma Central Railway Company has been around for over 110 years. Records show that it took an entire summer with over 2000 men to complete just a small section between mile 68 and mile 78.
By 1914 the track was laid to the northern city of Hearst, Ontario.
Passenger Train
The Algoma Central Railway operates regular Passenger Service between our depot in Sault Ste. Marie and the northern terminus of Hearst, Ontario. The rail runs through the heart of 22,000 square miles of recreational wilderness called Algoma Country and provides access to numerous lakes and rivers, private camps and cottages and a variety of Wilderness Lodges. In many cases the Railway is the only means of access to this remote region. Cabins are available for rent along the line.
