Come to OFSC District 1 for your chance to experience a two-day ride with fabulous sights, wildlife and fantastic hospitality. The French Connection Loop, one of six possible Loop Du Jours in Eastern Ontarios District 1, is 298 km (185 mile) of pure paradise.
It will take you through open fields, pipeline corridors, farm woodlots and abandon rail lines. Giving you many oppourtunities to experience the culture right from your sled.
Where to Start
Your starting point for snowmobile friendly accommodations can be found in Morrisburg at the McIntosh Country Inn, just south of highway 401 (exit # 750), located on TOP E105. The community of Morrisburg also offers restaurants, service stations, automotive garages, a pharmacy and a Ski -Doo dealer, all located right off the trail.
Day One
This first day ride will give you the chance to see many of Ontario's wildlife in the winter months from White Tail Deer to Moose along with our local Coyotes and Foxes, so please drive with care and have your camera ready. As you start your travel west on TOP E105 to the town of Prescott you will find fuel, food or service at a Polaris dealer all located on the trail with signage in place to find these needs. At this time on your morning ride take a moment for some photos and enjoy the quietness of this region on this very scenic trail. Stop and turn south onto TOP E113 to the town of Prescott if you need any of the above amenities.
Your ride will head north on TOP E113, an abandon rail line by turning right/north from TOP E105 onto TOP E113 towards Kemptville. Follow the OFSC Top trails into towns such as South Mountain for fuel, but if you're a Tim Hortons lover, be sure to make your way into Winchester. If a double double is not on your list then before Winchester turn north onto the wide, safe groomed trail of TOP A 212 on your way to the town of Metcalfe. There you will turn east onto TOP A to head towards Metcalfe for fuel, food or service at an Arctic Cat dealer all located on TOP A trail with signage in place to find your needs. Carry on following the TOP A trail heading east into Hammond. Here you will find an over night stay at a quaint B & B. With the warmth of a log cabin atmosphere, Domaine Chez Phillias, is a snowmobilers haven.
Day Two
After a relaxing night, the morning will have you heading east again on TOP A towards Alexandria on an abandoned rail bed. Make sure to bring your sun glasses as you ride east into a sunny day. The town of Alexandria can be your first stop with trail side amenities of food, fuel and sled dealers such as Arctic Cat, Polaris and Ski-Doo located all on the TOP A trail.
This second day will take you through woodlots and open fields as you travel west on TOP A 104, which is a right/west turn from TOP A just south of Alexandria. TOP A104 connects back to TOP E105 and then a short jaunt back to your starting point of Morrisburg. Throughout this two day ride you are able to sit back, relax and take in the serenity and peaceful beauty of Eastern Ontario by snowmobiling on smooth, groomed, signed and safe trails.
