Ice Fishing For Walleye, Crappie, Trout and more!

The fresh air, mixed with awesome scenery and catching a lake trout or walleye will put a smile on your face and will change your mind about staying inside in the winter.

For those that hibernate during the winter, you should really get out and try ice fishing. The fresh air, mixed with awesome scenery and catching a lake trout or walleye will put a smile on your face and will change your mind about staying inside in the winter. Sunset Country is known for its great summer fishing, but it doesn't stop when the snow flies. Go ice fishing for lake trout, walleye, northern pike, and crappie.

Many people bring their own temporary ice huts but for prime enjoyment, you should use the services of a licensed Canadian Outfitter. They place heated ice huts over the best spots and include them as part of your winter accommodation package. Rent a housekeeping cabin or go with the full American Plan which includes meals. Trophy fishing and accommodations all in one place! Several lodges in Northwest Ontario remain open throughout the year and can offer you some of Canada's best ice fishing. Just imagine, tasting fresh walleye in the middle of winter. Lake trout is available in many Canadian lakes - try for that trophy fish. Winter pike and black crappie fishing are excellent as well. You can snowmobile to your ice hole or ice fishing shack or just walk out from the lodge.

Ice Fishing Means Good Times with Friends

As you drop your fishing line down the ice hole, you can enjoy the company of your fishing buddies and laugh about all the fish stories from the year before. Be ready though, as it won't take long for your line to get a strike. Ice fishing in Ontario's Sunset Country can truly be incredible! Catching and releasing dozens of trout or fishing for crappie where it seemed like they were swimming in a barrel are not fish stories up here.Grab your fishing pole and come on over.
