Going After the "Big Girls"
US Angler Loves Ontario Muskie Fishing

As the fishing editor for Newwest.net webzine, Bill Schneider has gone on many a fishing adventure. One of his most memorable over the past few years was a trip to Minaki, Ontario and a hunt for some of Canada's biggest fish. Staying at Barber's Resort was one of the trip's highlights but really, the object of the exercise was to go out late in the fall - November in fact - and try his luck at catching a few of the "Big Girls".
Why "Big Girls"

Trophy muskie are often refered to as "Big Girls" because the largest fish are almost always females and when it comes to trophy muskie, large is an understatement! Bill came out in early November and as he put it, "Beware of Muskie Fever. It can ruin the life of a perfectly normal fishaholic." Yes, the lure of catching these massive and voracious freshwater predators is for many, impossible to resist and Bill was back for a second time after being skunked the year before. Needless to say he was not going to be denied the second time around!
He was right, on this trip, not only was Bill successful catching one big fish but three! A couple of the fish even exceeded 50 inches in length - true giants indeed. You can find out details of the trip by reading the full article "The Muskies of Minaki" and hear the story in his own words!
