Itching to getaway for the weekend?

Plan a weekend trip to Dryden around one of the Dryden live concerts this fall or winter. Dryden is centrally located in Sunset Country and is easily located on the Trans-Canada Highway. It is roughly 3.5 hours to either Thunder Bay, Ontario or Winnipeg, Manitoba. Come during the weekend of the concert or event, or if you have a few days off, come during the week. The Centre is Dryden is a beautiful building, with an award winning design that allows for multiple uses to provide a venue for musical performances, plays, business/organization meetings, large group training/information sessions and so much more. The following are a number of live performances that cover a variety of types of music and live entertainment. Use it as a starting point to pick a time to visit Dryden. Attractions in Dryden

  • Take part in a Dryden Winter Carnival or Festival
  • Geo Caching Adventures - Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world. Find all 53 caches in the Dryden area. For guided assistance call (807) 755-5672 or visit Spinnackkers.
  • Eglis's Sheep Farm and Animal Park - Located just 20 km west of Dryden, Egli's is one of Canada's largest wool and sheepskin shops with an on-site manufacturing facility. Hundreds of locally made, unique sheepskin products are available year-round in the large 3500 sq. ft. Gift Shop. Take a self-guided tour of the Animal Park or book in advance for a guided group tour, including a wagon ride to see elk, emus, sheep, llamas, alpacas, donkeys and more. The Animal Park is open seasonally from April through October. Visit www.eglifarm.com for more information or to shop online.
  • Community Art Benches and Murals - Local artists have made their stamp in the community with artworks depicting the culture of our region on park benches located throughout our "Wilderness City". Learn more about the artists and find all 30 unique works of art. Be sure to see the new Pieces of Dryden Mosaic Sculpture.
  • Laura Howe Marsh & Community Hiking Trails - The Laura Howe Marsh is a spawning and nursery area, home to many amphibians, mammals, and birds unique to Northwest Ontario. Wetlands are home to a wider variety of wildlife than any other Ontario Habitat. Located within City limits these trails are great place to stretch your legs and enjoy the great outdoors of "Our Wilderness City". There are many hiking and walking trails both in and around our the Limits. Visit the Experience Dryden website to view trail maps and more information on the trails.
  • Dryden Museum - The Dryden Museum is housed in the historic Hambleton House and holds over 10,000 artifacts in its collection. You will find Archaic culture or "Old Copper Culture" cold-hammered tools such as spear points, knives, fish hooks, soapstone pipes, hammer tools, hide scrapers and trade axes dating back 4,000 years. Travelling exhibits are brought in from the Royal Ontario MuseumYou can also see "The Dryden Buck", unofficially an Ontario record whitetail deer shot in 2003 scoring 192 7/8 on the Boone and Crockett scale.
So, come experience Dryden, you won't be disappointed. Your live concert combined with some fine dining and your participation in one of Dryden's attractions will make for the perfect weekend getaway.
