Julia and Steve both grew up in European homes where tasty homemade food was common; the kitchens in both of their homes were always busy and bustling, with the smell of homemade goodness wafting down the street. Today they have passed on these culinary traditions to their niece and nephew, Jordan and Lauren. You can find the four of them daily at The Moose creating something yummy and out of the ordinary for your culinary delight.

The Moose’s menu is definitely a little different, sourcing out locally grown food products whenever possible. For instance, they use local produce when in season, using veggies and herbs lovingly grown from their own garden. They also make many things from scratch including the baking, jams, salsa, and pesto. The Moose has all the warm comforts of an old country home, providing delectable meals with down-to-earth service.

The aroma of fresh-baked bread when you walk into the rustic two-story log building is a welcoming smell that is sure to get your taste buds stirring. The Moose prides itself on its baking, with original artisan-style breads baked in-store daily from specialty recipes created by Julia. Try their sourdough bread, as it uses a 100-year old sourdough starter recipe from wild yeast that originated in Grand Portage. 

The Moose is a great place to stop and relax to enjoy a meal or coffee after an outdoor outing of hiking, skiing, or viewing the falls at Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park, only a short five-minute drive from the restaurant. It is the perfect place for an afternoon out with the girls, an intimate dinner for two, or a meeting for a small group. In the summer, you can sit outside and enjoy your meal on the backyard patio. There is also an option to order out for your meeting or group as The Moose does cater.
