In anticipation for Friday #AboriginalDay RT @DavidZimmerMPP 6 Ways to Celebrate National Aboriginal Day http://t.co/luRgjTZ2RD
It was a Monday. I was on my way back to Timmins, after a long day of travel to and from Sudbury on the eventfully scenic Highway 144, when something caught the corner of my eye. Standing there, peacefully. She was beautiful but in such a dangerous way. I turned the Jeep around, parked on the shoulder, pulled out my camera and started shooting.

On that same day, reports were coming in that an older gentleman had been struck by a moose and killed in a one vehicle car accident on Highway 11 - a scene that seems to happen far too often in the north. The one I saw was peaceful, with the background of our serene wilderness embracing her presence. To my surprise, she never moved. A transport, two trucks and one van flew by... she stood still. As if she was posing for me to get that perfect shot. Or perhaps she was out to warn me? Delivering a message to drive safely upon these northern roads. These animals may be beautiful, but they can innocently cause a grave amount of danger. It amazes me how something so beautiful, so innocent can cause such damage.
If you aren't so lucky to see such beauty in our pristine wilderness, you can also pay a visit to Cedar Meadows Resort & Spa. Cedar Meadows also has a wildlife park - one of Northeastern Ontario's most fascinating attractions. Explore the depths of the wilderness, and get up close and personal with moose, bison, elk and more.
Bringing you stories and experiences to be had in beautiful and legendary Northeastern Ontario.
