Living in Algoma Country, we're lucky because we get to experience the change from summer to fall firsthand: clean crisp air in the mornings, the new fresh scents that blow off an autumn breeze, the sounds of Canada Geese overhead, and the soft crunchy sound that fallen leaves make as you step on them. The brilliant, breathtaking rich golds, vibrant reds and fiery orange colours — all the things that others dream of seeing and believing. That's why we're inviting you to experience a real fall colour season with us in Algoma this September and October.

Below are five ways to enjoy the magic of the fall colour season in the Algoma region:

Driving Tours

Amazing touring routes in Algoma Country, whether you're looking for a traditional driving tour or an epic motorcycle journey. We have four routes laid out for you to follow: The Grand Algoma (one of Ontario's top weekend rides), The Island North Drive (St. Joseph Island), the Deer Trail Touring Route (perfect for dual sport bikes and driving tours), and the Wawa North Tour (wilderness tour into northern communities).

Agawa Canyon Tour Train

The Agawa Canyon Tour is one of the most popular fall colour tours in our area because it's one of a kind. The journey begins in Sault Ste. Marie where the train journeys 114 miles north into pristine wilderness. From the large viewing windows, you'll experience seas of vibrant colour, beautiful views of Lake Superior and rugged mountain tops. Once you're in the canyon, there's time to climb to the top of the lookout where you'll have a stunning, panoramic view of the Agawa Canyon ablaze in colour.

Stay in Sault Ste. Marie at hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, campgrounds, or cottages.

Hiking Trails And Nature Walks

A fall hike is the best way to experience the fall colours through all your senses: the sound of fallen leaves underfoot, the fresh scents, and the vibrant colours all around you that you can reach out and touch. There are countless places to hike in Algoma Country: lookout trails that lead to amazing heights with breathtaking views, cascading waterfalls, and opportunities for wildlife viewing. Trails vary from nature walks to more rugged, challenging hikes, and can be accessed within city limits or in more remote areas. Take your pick!

Colours By Kayak Or Canoe
