Our Favourite Catches from Spring 2014



Ice out, open water, lodges are opening -- these are sure signs that winter is over and that the spring/summer fishing season is on! Lodge owners in Algoma Country have been posting images of big walleye and northern pike caught by their first guests and Ontario's Walleye Opener on their Facebook pages. These photos really capture the spring fishing season in Algoma. Elated fishermen proudly holding up their first catches of the season!

Agich's Kaby Kabins

Agich's Kaby Kabins on Kabinakagami Lake posted the biggest Walleye caught in their season so far: 10 lbs, catch and release. This fly-in fishing lodge has walleye, northern pike, perch and is voted #3 in the Top 10 Fly Fishing Lodges in Ontario for 2013 by The New Fly Fisher.

Errington's Wilderness Island

Errington's Wilderness Island on Lake Wabatongushi shared this photo of a happy guest holding his 34" Northern pike. That same guest later caught a 35" northern pike -- and both on a fly! Errington's is a remote lodge where guests can fly into fish for walleye, northern pike, or enjoy a relaxing wilderness vacation.

Pine Portage Lodge

Pine Portage Lodge on Kabinakagami Lake has been flying in guests since 1946 for fishing trips. Below is a photo of their first group of fishermen out on the lake in 2014 with a nice big walleye! Pine Portage Lodge has both American and housekeeping plans and guests can fish for walleye and big northern pike, whitefish and perch.

Waterfalls Lodge

Waterfalls Lodge posted this proud young man showing off his big catch on the first day of the walleye opener! Waterfalls Lodge is located on a chain of 5 lakes in Spanish, Ontario with awesome fishing for walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike, perch, lake trout. Housekeeping and American Plan packages are available.

Brennan Harbour Resort

Brennan Harbour Resort posted this great photo of a father and son who've been fishing together for over 25 years! Located on the Whalesback Channel of Lake Huron, on the mouth of the Spanish River, it's a great place to fish for northern pike, muskie, smallmouth bass, and jumbo perch. The resort has a variety of fishing packages for housekeeping, evening meals, American Plan, family plans, or father and child trips.

Mar Mac Lodge shared this photo of some walleye destined for a delicious fresh fish fry for supper. Nothing beats a fresh shore lunch, or a fish fry to end a day on the lake!
