5 ATV Events I Would Like To Attend (But Probably Won't!)

The calendar gets pretty busy when it comes to ATVing in Ontario. Choose wisely...

With so many great events happening everywhere across the province, I cannot possible make it to all of them. We all get busy with life, family, and all the other day-to-day things that keep us from doing all of the fun things we would like to be doing!

Here are five great events that I would like to attend someday, but I have never been able to make it to!

June 25th, 2016 - HATVA Deep Woods Safari

Every year, the Haliburton ATV Association puts on their Deep Words Safari ATV Adventure, and every year I never seem to make it! The pictures, videos, and stories that scatter the internet each year after this event always make me sad that I missed it. HATVA puts this ride on each year. It's a two-day event with multiple rides to accommodate all skill levels from beginner to expert.  Each day is a choose-your-own-adventure! There is free camping available and more robust accommodations nearby for those who don’t want to rough it.  Registration includes your box lunches to take with you on the trail, plus dinner the first night. How could you go wrong with an all-inclusive ride like this?
Region: Ontario's Highlands

Saturday April 23rd, 2016 - AWATVC Spring Poker Rally

2013 Spring Rally overview rev 2
Sometimes there are just too many rides happening on the same day, this is the case for this ride. Each year the
Algonquin West ATV Club puts on their Annual Spring Ride; unfortunately for me, it always coincides with a charity ride in my area. One of these years, I’m going to have to bow out and make the journey to Kearney to take in this popular annual event. This is a poker run ride, complete with BBQ lunch and dinner afterwards. And it looks like a blast, and would be right up my alley for a ride to take in!  One of these days, I’m going to cross this one off of the to-do list!
Recommended Accommodations: Edgewater Park Lodge

June 4th, 2016 - Kawartha ATV Association Ride for Dad

Anyone who knows me, knows that the Ride for Dad events are dear to me—I was part of starting the first ATV Ride for Dad Chapter in Canada. So it should come as no surprise that I would very much like to experience an ATV Ride for Dad put on by another chapter. Unfortunately, 2015 did not pan out for me and I had to miss KATVA’s first Ride for Dad. But this should be the first of many, so I am hoping that 2016 will be the year I get to make it! This ride includes a poker run, prizes, dinner and much more while helping to raise money to fight prostate cancer.

September 23, 24th, 2016 - VMUTS Annual Fall ATV Poker Rally

Years ago, back in 2009, when the Nation Valley ATV Club was still wet behind the ears, we partook in the Voyageur Multi-Use Trail System's Annual Fall Rally. We had a great time, and always pledged that we would go back and do it again sometime. We never did. We were always too busy with our own thing in the fall and then for a while the VMUTS had discontinued the fall rally. But now it’s back! So now we may have an opportunity to partake in this great event again last. Similar to the Deep Woods Safari Adventure, this event spans an entire weekend, with many rides and accommodation styles to choose from. Another all-inclusive ATV adventure that should not be missed if at all possible!
Region: Northeastern Ontario

Sometime This Year - ATVing in Ontario's Algoma Country

Number five on my list differs slightly from the first four as this is not a particular ride per se, but more of an area I would like to partake in someday. I would like to try my hand at riding Algoma County. This area offers all kinds of adventures, some of which involve having your ATV transported on the Algoma Central Railway to remote locations and riding from there! This is the type of trip I would love to try out.  With all kinds of different accommodations to choose from and even guided ATV tours to make planning easy. A trip to this area is definitely on my short list of places to try out – soon.

Which five events/Ontario destinations would you like to attend that you never seem to get to make it to?
