For many fly fishers, brook trout are the ultimate prize. These “gems of the north” are a wonderful gamefish to catch on a fly. In Northern Ontario there are special areas where the brook trout are wild and abound in streams and rivers. One place is the many streams of the Albany watershed, which is where Miminiska Lake Lodge is located.

The trout here are 2-4 pounds on average, with species up to 6 or 7 pounds often caught and released. Here the trout will willing come up for a dry fly or mouse pattern, which can be exceptionally exciting. If you like exploring wild rivers with walk and wade fly fishing, then consider the fly-in lodge on the Albany watershed that is gaining a worldwide reputation – Miminiska Lake Lodge.
