This summer, a new riding event is on the horizon. Saturday, August 18th, 2018 marks the debut of “Ride Around the Lake for Cancer's Sake”—a one-day motorcycle event that focuses on the ride—not vendors, or biker games, or t-shirt sales. This one is all about getting on your bike and going for a great ride in Northern Ontario.
All proceeds are going to the NBRHC Foundation’s Cancer Care “Close to Home” campaign that funds the purchase of urgently needed equipment. Many people don’t realize that the government doesn’t fund medical equipment—it’s the responsibility of the hospital and community together. This ride helps to ensure the best possible screening, diagnosis, and treatment for those suffering from cancer.
Tickets can be picked up in person at the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation, 50 College Drive, North Bay, and at the Powassan Municipal Office, 250 Clark Street, Powassan.
The Ride Around The Lake
Ride Around the Lake takes riders on a four-hour, 250-km tour around Lake Nipissing. The tour will showcase some of Northern Ontario’s best scenery, roads, and towns. And we’re expecting a pretty cool celebrity guest to lead the group ride. For the most up to date news about the event, make sure to check their Facebook page here.
Free camping is available Friday and Saturday night in unserviced sites. A $25 donation gets you into the entertainment on Saturday night, with three home-grown bands at the event grounds, as well as a spaghetti dinner after the ride. No bike? No problem! $10 gets you in to see the bands and the dinner too. All donations get you entered in the draw for the grand prize—but you’ve got to register before the 27th of July!
Bands will be Sepatown, Tequila Brother’s Revival, and Jake and the Fundamentals.
