Strike A Pose

Show us your stuff! We want to see you and your ride at your best in Ontario this season...

I never go anywhere on Ruby without my camera. You never know who you might bump into in a Timmy’s parking lot or when you just might happen to stumble across the perfect backdrop for a photo of your ride.

You’re the same… admit it.

And since you are, it’s time to start sharing some of the best you’ve captured (or are going to capture) in 2015.

Announcing the ‘What A Ride’ 2015 photo contest.

Well, actually, it’s the KAT and ‘What A Ride’ photo contest.

I’m working ahead on some unique and interesting pieces for the winter months ahead…and ‘What A Ride’ is looking for your best stories from the road over the past year.

But, what’s a contest without a prize or two? Let’s start there…

TonsOfBikeGearLogo Outlined

Tons of Bike Gear (St. Ann’s, Ontario – near Niagara Falls) has come on board as sponsor of this contest, and we are pleased to announce that the winner for Best Photo will receive a $100 gift certificate from the store. Tons of Bike Gear is a landmark & destination for riders from all over the province, and it’s THE place to go when you’re looking for a jacket, vest, helmet, boots, and all the accessories (from sunglasses to patches to gloves and more) to make the most of your time in the wind. Special thanks to Ed and Lillian for their contribution!

Note: Additional prizes will be added along the way, as winners for the different categories are chosen.

If you've got a business that would like to donate a prize to the contest get in touch with KAT and she'll get you on board.

And now, a list of the different categories you should consider when sending in your photos:

1. Best bike photo with nature backdrop

2. Best bike photo with urban backdrop

3. Best group (with bikes) photo

4. Best ‘couple’ photo (this category is specifically for an upcoming piece for Valentine’s Day on couples who ride together)

5. Best ‘me n’ my ride’ photo

Special category: Friday the Thirteenth adventures

To enter simply email photos to KAT at kattales@rogers.com with the subject heading: photo contest

Contest closes Sunday, November 15th, 2015 – The deadline has been extended in order to accommodate anyone brave (or crazy?) enough to head to Port Dover for November’s Friday the Thirteenth festivities

BAR WALL

Don’t forget to let us know the story behind the photo (date, circumstances, people in the photo, what makes this photo special to you, etc) – a picture may be worth 1000 words, but we still need the words so that we can share your story with others

If you are entering a photo of you and your favourite travelling companion (husband, wife, boy/girlfriend, BFF, man’s best friend, etc), it may also be used for an upcoming piece in time for Valentine’s Day. Entries for this particular category will also be posted to the What A Ride Facebook page by KAT once contact information has been verified.

And there you have it!

So, what are you waiting for? Start searching through all the pictures you’ve taken while out-and-adventuring on Ontario roads (and off-roads) during 2015 and get your photos sent in today!

We’re looking forward to sharing your stories with other riders… Kickstands up!!

About KimberleeAnna "KAT" Taplay

KimberleeAnna Taplay (more widely known as "KAT") is an empty-nester and newly-minted class M rider who has a game plan, a "BikeIt" list, and a VStar with a full tank of gas. KAT is happiest when she and her ride —Ruby— are exploring country roads and wandering from event to event and destinations throughout Ontario. Whether travelling alone, alongside her mentor, or joining small groups along the way, KAT will be chronicling her travels and sharing both her adventures on the road and her moments of quiet reflection about everything it means to be a part of the motorcycling world.
