Prepare for a scare!

Does Northeastern Ontario truly provide the most terrifying show on earth? You be the judge! Devil's Night is approaching and there are plenty of ways to celebrate in our BIG region. From farmers pumpkin patches, to haunted houses and spooky theatre performances, we've compiled the ultimate list of Halloween and pumpkin-themed activites taking place across Northeastern Ontario!

greater sudbury and area

Wagon Wheel Ranch Harvest activities 

Saturdays and Sundays through October
10 am to 4 pm

Participate in some family fun on the farm just outside of Sudbury in Val Therese. Kids will love the horse drawn wagon ride while parents enjoy the view. Stop by the petting zoo or take a pony ride. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase on site including hamburgers and hotdogs, cotton candy, popcorn and more.

Autism Ontario - Family Pumpkin Carving & Halloween Dance

Friday October 20
6 pm to 8 pm 

Stop in at the Amsdale Public School for dancing and pumpkin decorating activities. This free event is intended for children with ASD and their families and friends.

Terror Train 6077

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through October
7 pm to 10 pm
 

Terror Train 6077 is back, and it's rolling into Capreol with a car full of carnies and clowns to bring you "the most terrifying show on earth." This year's theme is "Return of the Nightmare to the North Pole," so expect to get your holiday spirit on a couple months early.

The Tunnel of Terror @ Dynamic Earth 

Until October 6-30
5 pm to 11 pm 

Prepare to be scared at Canada's only underground Halloween experience located seven storeys below the Earth's surface! Dynamic Earth has stepped up their game for an intensified fear factor like never before. This experience may not be for the faint of heart, so is recommended for children ages 12 and up.

Pumkinferno @ Dynamic earth

October 6-30
7 pm to 11 pm 

After the Tunnel of Terror, head outside and take in Pumpkinferno - an elaborate outdoor award-winning exhibit created by the Upper Canada Village. You will be amazed by 18 unique sets of sculpture and displays made entirely of individual fibre pumpkins (pictured above).

Northern Frights Festival

Saturday October 21
1:30 pm to 10 pm

The Northern Frights Festival is bringing the fear to the Sudbury Theatre Centre! Prepare for an amazing selection of short horror films from around the world and around the block presented by Northern Ontario's premiere horror film festival.

Monster's Ball 3: stripped to the bone Burlesque show

October 27 & 28 - Doors @ 7:30 pm 

This Halloween weekend, take in exhilarating live performances by the best local and out-of-town burlesque stars the field has to offer! Get ready to laugh and scream!!! Join the historic Grand Theatre for a Halloween themed burlesque show inspired by cult horror flicks and spooktacular drive-in thrillers. There will be best costume prize giveaways.

Crawl-o-ween: Sudbury bar crawl

October 31
7 pm - 2 pm

Get your Halloween costumes ready to trick-or-treat like adults on a Downtown Sudbury bar crawl! Your route will take you through some of the best bars in Sudbury, with the grand finale taking place at the Grand Theatre. Cash prizes can be won for the best costumes.

North Bay 

Leisure Farms Harvest Events 

Every weekend through October
11 am - 5 pm

The Leisure Farms Pumpkin Patch is open every weekend throughout November so pack up the family and head to the farm. Get lost in the Corn Maze, take a wagon ride, and get spooked in the Haunted Barn. While you're there, pick-up a bakery fresh pie or some local produce for the dinner table.

Austism Ontario Teen Halloween Night 

Friday October 27
6 pm to 8 pm

Join the fun at One Kids Place on McKeown Avenue for an evening of games, activities and fun! This free event is for teens with ASD and their friends.

The Capitol Centre Presents the Rocky Horror Picture Show

Sunday October 28
Show starts at 7 pm

It's part campy musical and part horror film. Get in your costumes and get your "Rocky Kits" for this cult classic where audience participation is the name of the game. Prizes available to be won!

day of the dead

Saturday October 29
8:30 pm to 1 am 

The French River Cultural Industries Council is hosting the Day of the Dead! Join in for the festivities at the Knights of Columbus Hall which are to include a live band (Riverside), light lunch provided by Subway, as well as games and a cash prize of $200 for the most creative costumes.

Go trick-or-treating at the West Nipissing Community & Recreational Centre! There will be tables set up to make the evening a safe, convenient way to enjoy the festivities for everyone.

Costume Carnage @ Pyramid Paintball

Join Pyramid Paintball in Bonfield for their year-end event - Costume Carnage. Show up in full costume and be prepared to paint the town red (or any other colour for that matter).

Join the community of Manitowaning as they celebrate all things Halloween! From hay bale throwing, seed spitting, wagon rides, and a highlight event, the pumpkin catapult contest - there are a ton of activities to keep you and your family entertained. Cash prizes are available to be won.

Come out and celebrate Halloween with the community of Gore Bay at the Haunted House of Gore - a spooky haunted house at the Red Roof Pavillion. Everyone is welcome from 7 pm to 9 pm.

Tag! You're scared! If a haunted house is more your style, make sure to drop by Neo Laser Tag on Algonquin Boulevard for some kid-friendly trick or treating and games.

4th annual Northern ontario Expo halloween Bash

Saturday October 28
8 pm to 1 am

This adults only event has sold out the past three years so get your tickets to the Senator Hotel quick! There will be many prizes awarded including door prizes, costume prizes and a silent auction. Music will be provided by Reuben's DJ Service.

4th Annual Halloween Extravaganza

Sunday October 29 - Tuesday October 31
Sunday: Noon to 8 pm
Monday/Tuesday: Private Tours 3 pm to 8 pm

If you're in the Iroquois Falls area, head over to Oil Tank Road to visit a full-sized graveyard, enjoy the pumpkin patch, and witness a zombie invasion! A warming station along with goodies and hot chocolate will be available for children. Don't forget to bring a non-perishable food item - the price of admission to this awesome community event.

Tri-Town Ski Village Halloween Party

Saturday October 28
8 pm to 1 am

Arrive before 10 pm in costume and receive a free ski pass! Guests will dance the night away, play games, and compete in the race for Best Costume. You won't go hungry as a midnight buffet will be provided. All proceeds go towards supporting the Ski Village.

STATO's 8th Annual Haunted Hustle 

Sunday October 28

"Catch me if you can!" is the slogan at the Haunted Hustle! The races are open to youth and adults with relays, 5-km and 10-km routes, as well as half-marathons and full marathons open for registration. The Haunted Hustle is also a Boston Qualifier event.
