Urban Cycling Routes in Northeastern Ontario

Northeastern Ontario is BIG on cycling, and we have plenty of trails just waiting to take you on your next cycling adventure! Whether you’re looking for a challenge or looking for a way to get the family outdoors, you’re sure to find the perfect route. We've broken down some of our region's best trail systems by association: North Bay's Discovery Routes, the Timmins Community Trail System, Sudbury's Rainbow Routes, and Manitoulin Cycling Advocates. North Bay

Winding along creeks, through parks, and past the beautiful waterfront, North Bay offers a great urban trail system. The Kate Pace Way and Kinsmen Trail link together to create a 17.5-km system of multi-use paved trails that can take you from one end of the city to the other. Following the Kinsmen Trail through the heart of the city, you will cross a free-span bridge above Main Street, before linking up with the Kate Pace Way near Lee Park, home of the famous Gateway Arch landmark. Timmins

With 45 km of recreational trails, the Timmins Community Trail System gives cyclists a great choice of scenery. The hard-packed rock surface connects all corners of the city, including conservation areas, scenic overlooks, residential areas and rest stops. Following the 7-km Bridge to Bridge Trail along both banks of the Mattagami River, you will pass by scenic views of the river, past exotic wildlife at Cedar Meadows' paddocks, and past the Mountjoy Conservation area, a perfect spot for a picnic! The Scout Rock and Waterfront trails each link up to the Bridge to Bridge trail, offering even more exploration through the heart of Timmins.

Sudbury

With almost 200 km of routes, Sudbury has no shortage of cycling opportunities! One option, the Bell Park Bike Path, allows cyclists to experience beautiful Bell Park. While travelling on the Paris Street portion of the trail, slow down to enjoy an amazing view of Ramsey Lake, and take advantage of some nearby points of interest such as the Art Gallery of Sudbury, and Science North. Manitoulin Island

The largest freshwater island in the world is a must-do for cyclists. Enjoy peaceful paved roads and beautiful scenery as you follow one of the many routes the island has to offer. Pedal past beautiful bays, golf courses, and plan some stops at quiet beaches and local restaurants that boast great hospitality.
