The “Centre” of Canadian Fishing

Gospel truth: families that fish together, stick together!

Northern Ontario Sportfishing Centre

Home to one of North America’s only attractions dedicated to angling, the Northern Ontario Sportfishing Centre draws visitors from around the world. The centre celebrates the history of fishing in Northern Ontario through catchy exhibits featuring antique equipment and local lore. Each year, new programs inspire avid and novice anglers alike on everything there is to know about the sport today through engaging learn-to-fish workshops, hands-on classes, and presentations.

Families who love to fish together, or those just taking up the sport—consider making this your first stop.

Resorts and Lodges That Put Families First

Local resorts provide excellent service, cozy accommodations, and a variety of activities to suit every group and budget.

Parks, Paddling and Trail Hiking

The Township of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls maintains several amazing hiking trails with varying levels of difficulty. There’s a variety of terrain along the Boreal Trail, which is a little more challenging for the 3.8-mile distance.

Canoeing in a provincial park

In partnership with the city of Kenora, Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls has developed six new multi-day regional canoe route guides that include portages, campsites, and detailed maps. Ask about them at the Visitor Information Centre.

The two local provincial parks are definite musts. Look out for American White Pelicans at Caliper Lake Provincial Park. The clean, warm waters here also make for great fishing, while the beach beckons sun and sand worshippers. Sioux Narrows Provincial Park, on the shores of Lake of the Woods, is famed for its walleye fishing.
