Hiawatha Highlands

Bellevue Park

Bellevue Park is 17 hectares in size and offers a large playground area, 2.4 km of asphalt walkway, multiple floral beds, and a display greenhouse which is open to the public. The playground area now features the new Adventure & Sensory Playground for you to enjoy.

Movies are shown at the band shell during the summer months, so you can enjoy an afternoon or evening picnic with a movie.

Parks Canada - Sault Ste. Marie Canal

On the edge of the rapids at Sault Ste. Marie, lie the historic buildings, antique machinery and picturesque grounds of the Sault Ste. Marie Canal, which makes for the perfect picnic stop.

Whitefish Island, to the south of the canal, was a First Nations encampment for hundreds of years, and offers over 3 km of scenic nature trails that take you under the International Bridge right to the edge of the St. Mary’s Rapids. Picnic areas, guided tours, displays, brochures, an audio-visual presentation, ample parking, and a gift shop are available on site as well.

Clergue Park by the Art Gallery of Algoma

The Art Gallery of Algoma is an art museum located on the St. Marys River in Sault Ste. Marie. Featuring local, national, and international artists, it holds a collection of over 4,000 works of art and conveniently located beside Clergue Park. Climb up on top of the oversized table and chairs and take in the beautiful surroundings of the waterfront.
