During the winter season, Ontario is home to the world’s largest interconnected trail network—over 30,000 km of maintained snowmobile trails, giving you literally thousands of reasons to go sledding. However, for a plug and play experience on the trails this winter, consider these nine loops. The variety of trails, the availability of accommodations and services, the beauty of the natural surroundings, the vast expanses that allow us to escape the daily grind and get outside and be active—it all adds up to something special, and these loops offer just that.
For many of us, it’s not just the snowmobiling itself that does wonders—there’s something truly unique about spending quality time with friends and family in the great outdoors, surrounded by fresh powder, beautiful forests and ribbon-like trails. If I close my eyes, I can picture some of my closest friends standing around out by the sleds, the bright sun shining down on us as we gather around my iPhone, scouting the trail status and planning our route on the iSnowmobile App.
Depending on your level of comfort and experience, putting together a viable snowmobile route can be a challenge. Just knowing that the basics can be relied on along the way can provide a much-needed sense of peace of mind that will allow you to truly enjoy your travel experience. This was part of the inspiration for the OFSC’s featured Tour Loops for Ontario.
Before you head out, please check to make sure that the trails are available, using the OFSC's Interactive Trail Guide.
The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) is a not-for-profit federation made up of local member snowmobile clubs across the province that provide a wide range of excellent programs, which help ensure responsible riding experiences that are both fun and safe for snowmobilers.
The tour loops listed below have been put together by snowmobilers and volunteers with a view to maintaining selected trails at the highest possible level of quality and consistency. Well-marked, impeccably groomed, and with direct access to enough fuel, food, and lodgings to enable snowmobilers to find them easily, these loops could well be the setting for your next great winter memory.
P.S. We’ve assigned hashtags to each loop—while you’re out on the trail, snap a pic or video and share it with the appropriate #hashtag—make sure to tag your riding buddies!
