Lake Laurentian Conservation Area

Sudbury has many outdoor activities that are guaranteed to please both visitor and resident alike. With over 4,000 acres of protected green space, Lake Laurentian Conservation Area has plenty of beautiful hiking trails for every skill level. A newly built wooden boardwalk frames the edge of the lake, and provides the perfect pathway to walk your dog or check out the frogs and aquatic plants. The trails are accessible year-round, and the facility rents out snowshoes in the winter to provide Sudburians and visitors the opportunity to explore the great outdoors during all seasons!
As you walk along the boardwalk, you will find the Story Time Trails exhibit, which currently features Tim Lukowiak’s The Amazing Adventures of Melissa Bee—a children’s book that aims to educate children about the importance and impact of bees. The implementation of the Story Time Trails initiative encourages parents to bring the kids along for a hike and be active together!
ARC Climbing & Yoga

Over the last 10 years, rock climbing has become an increasingly popular sport worldwide, and Sudbury is no exception. Sudbury’s passionate climbing community and our eight months of winter proved the need for a full climbing facility in Sudbury; however, until three years ago, there wasn’t a space large enough to accommodate Sudbury’s sizable and advanced climbing community.
In November 2015, ARC Climbing + Yoga opened its doors boasting a state-of-the-art climbing and yoga facility that includes a boulder wall for beginners and kids as well as several larger climbing walls. These walls provide climbing space for a variety of skill levels—each pathway’s difficulty is indicated by colour-coding; this allows even ARC’s youngest athletes to learn to climb too! One of ARC’s many fitness initiatives is their Kids Summer Camps; these day camps provide hours of physical activity including climbing, yoga and outdoor adventures for today’s youth. One of the most popular services provided at ARC, instructional climbing is used to teach kids as well as beginners how to climb and often works in conjunction with ARC’s training area. This area features all sorts of exercise equipment, including a hang-board attachment which allows beginners to strengthen their muscles in preparation for climbing.
At ARC, you will also find a beautiful yoga studio that offers many types of yoga classes including both an express and a full-length Hatha yoga class, kids yoga, pre-teen yoga, baby yoga, aerial yoga, as well as warm and hot power flow yoga to warm your body and get you sweating even more.
