Dryden's Winter Festival - February 14-17, 2020
The Dryden Winter Festival starts on Friday, February 15th with a variety of events. Throughout the day on Friday, activities are happening at the Dryden Go-Getters Activity Centre, the museum and ends with a Meat Draw at the Royal Canadian Legion. On Saturday, the Dryden Public Library is offering Family Story Time at 10am, 'Ask a Genealogist' from 10-12pm and Lego Club at 1pm. On Sunday, there will be horse-drawn sleigh rides, a Winterfest Glow Bowling, pick-up hockey, Lion's Club of Dryden Fishing Derby, Frozen II showing at The Centre at 2pm, and more. Family Day has a pancake breakfast, and then you can go watch the Dryden GM Ice Dogs Family Day Classic. Ear Falls Family Day Weekend Events - FEB. 14-15, 2020
It’s Karaoke night on February 14th at the Ear Falls Legion from 9:00pm-1:00am. 19+. On Saturday, there is free drop-in hockey from 4:30-6:00pm. Celebrate your family with the Valentine’s Skate 1 Day Late! There will be public skating from 6-8:00pm on the 15th. Free snacks as well!
Red Lake Winter Carnival Family Day Weekend - Feb. 14-17, 2020
The Red Lake Winter Carnival Committee works hard to put on a fantastic winter carnival. Keeping with the family theme, the committee will be holding the event over the Family Day weekend. Be sure to participate in (or watch!) the Howey Bay Pond Hockey Cup, Cardboard Box Races, snowshoe races, snowman toss, log sawing contest dog sled rides on Sunday from noon-3:00pm, Winter Golf Tournament, snowmobile derby, Seniors games and cards at the Legion, and so much more! Sioux Narrows Winter Carnival - February 14-16, 2020
The Sioux Narrows Winter Carnival will be held at the Sioux Narrows Community Hall. Friday is the kids dance from 5:30-8:00pm. On Saturday, there will be outside and inside kids games from 11:00am-2:00pm, dog sledding adventures from 11:00am-2:00pm, snowmobile derby from 2:00-4:00pm, and a spaghetti dinner at 6:00pm (doors open at 5:30). On Sunday there is an afternoon skate from 1:00-3:00pm.

Bring the whole family out for a day of license-free fishing on Nym Lake from 10am-3:00pm. Come out and meet the Sportsmen's Conservation Club members at this free event as they serve hot dogs and hot chocolate. Holes will be drilled and minnows are supplied by the club.

Voyageur Winter Carnival - February 15-17, 2020
The Voyageur Winter Carnival is held annually at the Fort William Historical Park in Thunder Bay. This Family Day Weekend is jam-packed with activities at the FWHC. Have fun at new outdoor winter Zorb Ball track and human bowling alleys, in the snow maze, at the tubing and sliding hills, or skating on the Kaministiquia River. There will be carnival games, winter games and activities, live indoor and outdoor entertainment each day. Bonfire at Town Beach in Sioux Lookout - FEB 16, 2020
From 10am-2pm at Town Beach in Sioux Lookout, you can enjoy free soup and hotdogs and then roast marshmallows around the bonfire. Nordic Nomads have a ski trail on the lake for you to enjoy. Bring your skates and go for a skate or just come say hello.
Ontario Family Ice Fishing Event - FEB. 15-17, 2020
Ontario Family Fishing Events is a province-wide opportunity for Canadian residents to fish Ontario lakes without the otherwise mandatory fishing version outdoors card. Since it falls over the Family Day, it's a great time to take the kids or a friend who's never ice fished out to try hard water fishing. The Ontario Government designates the weekend of February 15-17, 2020 (12:01 am Saturday to 11:59pm Monday). During all other time periods, Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 64 years must purchase a valid fishing license to legally fish in Ontario.
Participants without a license must adhere to the Conservation fishing license limits. Visit the Ontario Recreational Regulations Summary for details on the lake or fish species you'll be fishing.
Vermilion Bay Kin Karnival - February 20-23, 2020
The weekend will include numerous activities including Thursday evening Trivia Night, a fish fry and two meat draws on Friday, a family snowmobile derby on Saturday as well as Bruyere's Bobcat Services Snowshoe Funday, Eagle lake SC Spaghetti Supper and the Kin Karnival Dance. Sunday starts with a pancake breakfast, and then the Kin Family Fish Derby at the Eagle Lake Government Dock from 1-4pm. Call Scott at 807-227-2904 for more information.
Pickle Lake Ice Fishing Derby - February 29, 2020
Start the day with a Lion's Club Pancake Breakfast. Take part in the ice fishing derby in Pickle Lake. There are awesome prizes, hot chocolate and hot dogs all day. Bring out the whole family! There will also be a market from 9am-1pm at the Community Hall.
Kenora Winter Carnival - March 6-8, 2020
Join the town of Kenora for fireworks on Friday, March 6th evening. Winners of this year's Snow Sculptures will also be announced. Take a peek at last year's amazing snow sculptures. This year's theme is "Kenora Games". There will be an assortment of events such as the Matiowski Winter Market, Curling for a Cause, vendors and pop-ups to watch for throughout the town of Kenora on Saturday. Nestor Falls Winter Carnival - March 6-8, 2020
Nestor Falls Annual Winter Carnival is a great way to spend a March weekend! Events start on Friday and include free children's games from 3-6pm, the fish cook-off dinner % dessert competition takes place at the Community Hall. Saturday has a fishing derby, cribbage tournament, dance and much more planned. Sunday ends off the carnival with a pancake and sausage breakfast! Throughout the months of February & March, winter is celebrated with a variety of events including a Snow Derby, the Agimak Ice Fishing Derby, sliding parties, Youth Pool & Dart Tournaments and an Adult Pool Tournament.
On the Family Day weekend, the Ignacve Otters Snowmobile Club will be putting on the Snow Derby 2020. Friday night is Monte Carlo Night, Saturday, February 15th is the Ride to White Otter Castle as well as a dinner. Enjoy the Sled Races on Sunday.
