Go Skiing, Biking, and Hiking Right in Town

With their locations smack dab in the middle of the Northern Ontario woods, the towns and cities in Sunset Country have some really great trail systems to offer. Both seasons for hiking, and biking, and in winter, snowshoeing and cross-country ski trails can be found in almost every town. Kenora has a great Nordic trail system and has recently developed a number of urban hiking trails that combine history and hiking to entertain you. The City of Dryden also offers a really good system of hiking and skiing trails.

When you access these trails, you will be immersed in a wilderness-like environment - in some cases within the town limits - and you'll discover just how beautiful Northwestern Ontario really is. Around the Township of Atikokan located near beautiful Quetico Park or around Ignace, the trail choices are numerous and the countryside is slightly different than near Dryden or Kenora.

The abundance of wildlife you'll see is endless while hiking in Sunset Country.

Sioux Lookout is another destination that offers some excellent hike and ski trails. You'll have a great view of the English River system, amid lakes and endless beaches. The groomed trails for skiers are truly incredible and well worth the time. Red Lake and Ear Falls also have these trails in place, which are surrounded by the beautiful endless wilderness.

Wherever you may be traveling, look for local trail systems for skiing, snowshoeing, biking, or hiking, you will be pleasantly surprised with what you find.
