Fort William Historical Park's Voyageur Winter Carnival is always a huge hit in the city of Thunder Bay. This year, they've added even more incredible events and activities to their three-day event.
February 17, 18, and 19 join in on the fun at Fort William Historical Park everyday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Below are just some of thehighlights you can expect to see and take part in at the Carnival!
Snowmobile Stunt Show
There will be a Snowmobile Stunt Show featuring Fred Rasmussen and Brody Wilson. As X Games competitors, Rasmussen and Wilson will perform freestyle stunts over the Kaministiquia River!
Every day of the event at 1:00 pm, 2:30 pm, and 4:00 pm.
Ice Racing Demonstrations on the Kam
The Thunder Bay Autosport Club will be presenting ice racing demos on the Kaministiquia River! Watch the cars go head to head on a full oval ice track.
Ice Races happen Monday, Feb. 19 at 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm.
A Snow Maze!
Entertainment and adventure! Try the snow maze during your visit to the Voyageur Winter Carnival
Explore your sense of direction and wit but venturing into the oversized snow maze. Fun and challenging for all ages!
This activity is open every day from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm.
Tubing Hills
Fort William Historic Park went out of their way to make this activity available to all ages by including a gentler hill for smaller children. But never fear, you can still have your fun on the bigger hill!
This activity is open every day from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm.
Be prepared to make many trips up and down the tubing hills!
Contests, Games & Live Entertainment
Try your hand at least one of the many games the Carnival will be offering. Have you ever tried Moose Skiing? Better bring your friends, family, and balance for this one! What about sawing a log at record speeds?
There will be a name-the-baby-animal contest as well!
Other Activities
There will be a wide range of additional indoor and outdoor activities all weekend long.
Experience the pure joy of sugar shack maple syrup at the cabana à sucre! You can purchase taffy treats and learn more about the process of maple syrup.
Horse Drawn Wagon rides will be happening every day, so will skating on the Kam River so don’t forget your skates!
For a two-dollar donation you can try firing a historic musket with the Canadian Corps of Voyageurs.
Learn how to fire a historical musket! This is a very popular activity!
Try your hand at graffiti on the snow wall, winter golfing, curling, and snowshoeing as well!
There will be giant puzzles, snow sculptures, a games room with oversized games, a craft station, and much more!
Some historic buildings such as the Anishinaabe, Apothecary, and Wintering house will be open.
