Northern Walleye Lodge

Catching Trophy Sized Smallmouth Bass, Pike and Trout

For those that love to fly fish for northern pike, smallmouth bass, lake trout and even brook trout -- there is a special place to go called Northern Walleye Lodge.

Rebekka Redd from The New Fly Fisher Television Show spent a week at this wonderful lodge located in Algoma Country. Though it caters mostly to walleye anglers, the lodge can also easily accommodate fly fishers who wish to pursue the multitude of freshwater species they possess. Excellent times to visit this lodge on Dog Lake are April thru to mid-July. Dog Lake is home to many islands and rocky shoals making it an ideal habitat for smallmouth bass.

Rebekka brought 5- or 6-weight rods for the brook trout and smallmouth bass, and 8- and 9-weight rods for lake trout and big pike. Streamers reign supreme here for all species except the bass and brook trout that can be caught on topwater flies. Good patterns to bring include stimulators, muddlers, white zonkers, woolly buggers, zoo cougars and for the pike -- anything orange!

This full-service drive-in lodge is west of Missinabie Provincial Park north of Chapleau and is a great getaway location that is solely focused on helping anglers catch a trophy of their lifetime. Rustic log cabins have waterfront views and there is also an island outpost cabin if you're looking for something more secluded. Services at the lodge include meal-plan packages, housekeeping cottage packages, family packages, and even fall fishing specials.

Rebekka really enjoyed her time at the lodge and encourages everyone to try the outstanding fishing here!
