Experience One of Canada's Top Ten Drives
The shoreline of Lake Superior is known far and wide as one of the best drives in Canada. Majestic, awe-inspiring pristine wilderness and the vastness of the world's largest freshwater lake. Lake Superior is so large that it's like a crystal clean inland sea where scenic shorelines can range from sandy beaches to towering bluffs.
The Lake Superior Circle Tour is a must-see Ontario route but, at over 2,000 km and spanning two countries, you might not feel like tackling the whole thing in one go.
A Little or A Lot
To drive all the way around Lake Superior would take more than a few days. This is why we'd suggest taking a look at the route first to determine what appeals to you most. Some people even do it in stages over two or three years. Once you've visited all five regions of the tour, you qualify for a certificate of completion. All of the roads included on the route are easily accessible by all major provincial highways or US interstates.

The Ride Lake Superior Site gives you an idea of which roads are best suited to getting up close and personal with Superior, but there is no specific route you must take. If you're doing the Ontario side of the lake, the two regions you'll need to visit are the eastern shore, known as the Algoma Region, and the northern shore, known as Superior Country. The guys at Virtual Ride have done a short video of the ride on Highway 17 about halfway between Wawa and Thunder Bay, to give you a dramatic, up-close-and-personal idea of the experience.
