Looking to expand your riding grounds? Cross the border and discover Ontario's riding.

There comes a time in every rider's life when the backroads of their hometime don't cut it anymore—when they start putting up maps on the walls of the garage and making plans for something... big. If this is you, the time is now to start making bigger plans. To expand your riding destinations, and get outside of your comfort zone. To experience something new, thrilling, and eye-opening. To help you out, we've prepared the ultimate guide to expanding your horizons into, where else? Ontario.

Crossing the Border into Ontario

It might seem like a completely different world, but Ontario and Michigan share a lot in common. Our riding seasons are very similar, we all speak English, and we all love the open road. And getting into Ontario might be the easiest part—with four easy access entry points at Detroit, Port Huron, Sault Ste. Marie, and Thuder Bay, this might be the easiest international trip you've ever taken. We've created a list of quick tips for smooth passage.

Top Routes for Michiganders

OK, so you've made it across the border—where do you go? It all depends on what you're looking for. We have all kinds of routes: short, long, inland, coastline, technical or easy cruising—check out our top choices for Michigan riders below.

Ontario's Bucket List Ride, RLS is also Ontario's longest ride, perfect for riders with a week or more. And the greatest of the great lakes never disappoints, with motorcycle-specific parking, amazing views of Lake Superior and incredible food and hotels thoughout the route. We highly recommend doing this tour clockwise for the best possible scenery.

Manitoulin Island Tour

Manitoulin Island is a pretty special place, loved by riders for its quiet roads and quaint towns. It's the world largest freshwater island—so large it has its own lakes within the island. Riders can expect good eats, friendly locals, and beautiful scenery, and the ride to the island include a pretty awesome ferry ride where motorcyclists are first on and first off.

Georgian Bay Coastal Route

One of Ontario's longest running motorcycle routes, the GBCR takes riders around the shores of Georgian Bay, including the same ferry ride as the Manitoulin Island Ride, but taking riders through the incredible rock cuts, and over the waterways of the French River, Espanola, and Sudbury. You'll get a great sense of what Northern Ontario is all about on this route.

Grand Algoma Tour

If you're looking to combine a highly scenic tour with a highly technical one, the Grand Algoma is for you. This incredible route include the mind-blowing eastern coastline of Lake Superior, from Sault Ste. Marie to Wawa, and then takes rides through a rip-roaring curve fest in the the Mississagi River Valley.

Algoma ADV Loop

If you're more of the adventurous type, looking to add a little dirt to your tour, balanced with some scenic road riding, the Algoma ADV is just the thing for you. Enjoy the scenery of Lake Superior, then dive deep into the forests and mountains of inland Algoma for some thrilling backcountry riding.

Ride the Highlands

Ontario's most technical riding is perfect for sport tourers or those who love the thrill of riding back to back twisties. There are also some killer places to eat on any one of the signature routes. You can even order a free map here.
