Can’t Get Enough of Killarney

My love affair with Killarney

The first time I laid eyes on the natural wilds of Killarney, it was love at first sight and I’ve been coming back ever since. This love affair started decades ago on a canoe trip as I gazed out at the reflections of the LaCloche Mountains falling on glassy waters—and it's grown stronger with every successive visit.

I’ve come to realize there’s enough to explore in this small area to last a lifetime. From the rugged Canadian Shield scenery, complete with pink granite bedrock, deep blue lakes and trails leading to picturesque coves and grand vistas, to an abundance of wildlife and a quaint town at the end of the road—it’s an epic destination for a nature photographer with no end to the discoveries.

I don't rough it in my tent as often these days—I get a much better sleep in the comfortable beds at Killarney Mountain Lodge. But I wake up fresh each morning and hit the trails in time to catch sunrise, and I stay out paddling my canoe until sunset. There seems to be another amazing view that I haven't seen before around each bend. That's what keeps me going back to time and again. And that's why I love Killarney so much.
